Discovering Europe by visiting the sites alone or also from the perspective of history and culture. Whichever way you prefer to discover Europe, our starting point is historic Aachen, where students will have the opportunity of visiting the magnificent cathedral in which Charlemagne, King of the Franks, was crowned in October 768 and had his seat of power.
Destinations include Cologne and the Rhine Valley.
Originally founded by the Romans, Cologne today is a bustling international city, offering testimony to a colourful past and providing a wide range of opportunities for leisure-time activities. An absolute must for visitors to Cologne is the city?s splendid cathedral with its iconic twin towers. A further destination is Amsterdam, known as the ?Venice of the North?, characterized by its canals and waterways and architecturally shaped by its rich history as a centre of commerce. Not to be missed in this city are the ?Rijksmuseum?, featuring works by the artist Rembrandt, the gothic ?Oude Kerk?, home to many art exhibitions, and the house in which Anne Frank. A further attractive excursion option is Brussels, not only the capital of Belgium, but also the seat of the European Parliament and the EU Commission. Brussels is also the headquarters of Nato and the permanent secretariat of the Benelux countries. A city of great architectural interest, Brussels features many buildings in the Art Nouveau style.
