Girls And Boys Go Science...
Girls And Boys Go Science - a project week for German Schools abroad designed to prepare schoolchildren aged 16+ studying at German Schools abroad for higher and further education. It is run in co-operation with RWTH Aachen University and the REGIO Aachen Organisation, on the recommendation of the Conference of the Education Ministers of the German States (Laender) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
Within the project ?Girls And Boys Go Science?, groups of schoolchildren from various European countries come together in Aachen. In a dialogue with students and professors, the schoolchildren are given invaluable information about courses at Aachen University and everyday student life in Germany. The program is rounded off by excursions in the region (visiting the European Parliament in Brussels, the city of Maastricht in The Netherlands and the city of Cologne) and a workshop, aimed to boost their confidence in themselves and their ability to make decisions about their future.
Young people studying abroad are in particular need of careers guidance and an understanding of what it is to study and live away from home. Visits to institutes of higher education ? Aachen University in this case ? provide valuable insights into student life, helping to dispel doubts and uncertainties older schoolchildren might have.
As with all Mosaica programmes, elements of ?Girls And Boys Go Science...? are transferable to other programmes in our offering.
