For schools in Europe - European Science Parliament

In 2008 the first biennial European Science Parliament Conference was hosted by the city of Aachen.

Every other year schoolchildren, students, citizens, scientists, politicians and people representing businesses Europe- wide meet to discuss topics of global importance.

Each Parliament climaxes with the adoption of the ?Aachen Declaration?; a summary mf the findings of the ESP to be presented  on a set of recommendations to the European Institutions.

In 2008, the main focus was "Europe energised ? will the lights go out in 2050?"

WATER is the focal topic of the ESP 2010.

The steering group could not resist the temptation of choosing WATER as the main theme of the 2010 European Science Parliament either. It's mixture of scientific and philosophical aspects offers a great chance to continue the discourse and dialogue initiated in 2008 -- and a great opportunity to integrate many other ideas and proposals for thematic priorities into our debates, ranging from ethics to education, from economy to politics, from renewable energies to life resources.

Water is connected to many current developments as diverse as climate change or migration. It is considered by many the key resource of our century, but it has always been of great importance: civilisation have prospered or withered because of it.
